The Local History Initiative embodies CGHS’s commitment to Coastal Georgia. By combining historical expertise with community service, we help local businesses and organizations research, preserve, and share their unique stories. Our team of trained historians, including museum professionals, an archivist, and an archaeologist, develops projects ranging from corporate archives to public exhibits, ensuring that the people, institutions, and enterprises that shape our region are remembered for generations to come.

Would your business or organization like to showcase your unique history? We would love to work with you! CGHS has experience collaborating on a variety of projects including exhibits, internships, and archival records processing. We are open to working with flexible budget ranges and will work closely with you to develop a meaningful end product.
If you are interested in inquiring about a potential project, please fill out the form below or contact Shelby Smith, the Coastal Georgia Historical Society’s Ellen H. “Mimi” Rogers Director of Collections and Education, at [email protected].
