On Friday, August 19, our Chautauqua lecture speaker, Hank Klibanoff, spoke to U.S. History and African American Studies classes at Glynn Academy and Brunswick High.  Mr. Klibanoff, a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, presented programs about his work with the Georgia Civil Rights Cold Case Project. As a professor of history at Emory University, he guides his students in the use of investigative reporting to document the truth behind unsolved and unpunished racially motivated murders that occurred during the modern civil rights era.

Approximately 225 students attended the lectures and participated in lively question and answer sessions. The students were interested in how journalists obtain primary documents for decades-old cold cases and how Mr. Klibanoff’s work affects his perspective on current events.
