In February, the Lighthouse tower was carefully cleaned and repaired as recommended in a structural evaluation performed in May 2016. All exterior metalwork was painted after rust had been removed and repairs made. Windows in the lens room were also repaired and waterproofed, and interior metalwork was painted as needed. The tower masonry was washed to remove staining, and the copper vent at the top of the Lighthouse was cleaned
and screened to prevent intrusion by birds and insects.
